Shotgun 100
Introduction to Shotguns

Introduction to Shotguns is a course designed to provide students with the basic instruction and understanding of the shotgun, its history, and its purpose. The shotgun can be a great all-around tool for not only fun target shooting but also as a very effective defensive weapon for the home.
Class Prerequisites:
Positive attitude and willingness to participate
Focus Areas:
- Shotgun fundamentals
- Safe manipulation of the shotgun
- Ammunition selections/ purpose
- Automatic vs. pump-style shotguns
- Characteristics of various shotgun loads
- Live fire practice
2 hours class time, 1 hour range time
Equipment Required:
- Semi-automatic or pump shotgun (we suggest you bring your own, rentals are limited)
- At least 20 rounds of ammunition (ammo must be a number 6 shot or larger pellet size)
- Eye and ear protection
Shotgun 200
Defensive Shotgun I

Defensive Shotgun I is the first part of a two-part class series. This first-class builds on the elements of the Introduction to Shotguns course and elevates the student’s understanding of this powerful device. When it comes to firepower and home defense it is hard to beat a well-trained individual with a strong understanding of the shotgun. Smaller shooters are encouraged to use 20ga or .410ga. The class is a 5 hour course and includes classroom work, hands-on dry-fire practice and live-fire drills.
Class Prerequisites:
Introduction to Shotguns or able to demonstrate proper loading/unloading and operation
Focus Areas:
- Review of skills from Introduction to Shotguns
- Basic shotgun reloading techniques
- Shooting at stationary targets
- Different defensive shooting positions
- Proper ammunition selection for defensive shooting scenarios
1 hour class time, the remainder is range time
Equipment Required:
- Semi-automatic or pump shotgun (we suggest you bring your own, rentals are limited)
- 140 rounds of ammunition (120 rounds of number 6 shot or larger pellet size, 10 buckshot, 10 slugs)
- Eye and ear protection
- Attached weapon light (recommended but not required for Level I)
Shotgun 300
Defensive Shotgun 2

Defensive Shotgun 2 is the final part of the two-part series. This class builds on the elements of Defensive Shotgun 1 and teaches the students more advanced techniques on the use of the shotgun for home defense using barricades for cover and concealment. The class is a 5 hour course and includes classroom work, hands-on dry-fire practice, and live-fire drills. Pistols are not required.
Class Prerequisites:
Shotgun 200 & Pistol 500 required if using transitions to pistol
Focus Areas:
- Review of skills from Defensive Shotgun I
- Engaging multiple targets
- Tactical use of the shotgun mounted flashlight
- Low light shooting with barricades and cover
- Shooting on the move
- Advanced transition to sidearm
1 hour class time, the remainder is range time
Equipment Required:
- Semi-automatic or pump shotgun (must bring your own)
- 140 rounds of ammunition (120 rounds of number 6 shot or larger pellet size, 10 buckshot, 10 slugs)
- Eye and ear protection
- Attached weapon flashlight (required)
- Sidearm, 50 rounds of pistol ammunition, strong side holster that does not collapse
- Shotgun tactical sling
- All pistol required gear from P500 class
