We’ve put together a list of some of the essential items so you know what to bring to a gun range. When it comes to using firearms, it’s always better to be more prepared than unprepared. While some items may be available to rent at the gun range, having your own range bag filled with the equipment and items you need will help make the whole process a little smoother.
Firearms
It goes without saying, but if you don’t have a firearm at the gun range, you probably won’t have much fun, so make sure that you bring whatever guns you would like to shoot along with you. Certain ranges may have restrictions on what firearms can be used, so always call ahead if it’s your first time or you are unsure. If you don’t have your own gun, C2 Tactical provides rental firearms you can use during your session.
Ammunition
Having ammo is probably the second most important piece of equipment you’ll need. You’ll want to be sure that you have the right kind for your gun and enough rounds to be able to make the most of your time at the gun range. If you need to purchase ammunition, it can be bought in-person at C2 Tactical or online. Just make sure that you buy all the ammo you need before your range time starts.
Targets
While the gun range sometimes provides targets, they may not be the kind you want to use for target practice. If you have a specific type of target that you prefer or would like to practice with, be sure to bring those with you. Along with your targets, bringing tape or staples to secure your target can help provide a better shooting experience.
Protection
Nothing is more important than safety. That’s why it is essential to bring proper eye and ear protection to the gun range. When it comes to eye protection, it’s a good idea to have a pair of your own shooting glasses that meet OSHA standards. Having your own pair guarantees they will fit you right.
There are various options to choose from in order to protect your hearing. From foam earplugs to passive earmuffs, having something that will help cancel out the loud sound of gunshots will be crucial to protecting your hearing. Other Items to Bring to the Gun Range
While we already mentioned some of the most important equipment, there are a handful of items that can be great additions to your range bag, including:
- Gun Cleaning Kit / Tools
- Gun Oil
- Empty Chamber Indicator
- First Aid Kit
- Pen & Paper
While all of this equipment is important to the gun range experience, you don’t necessarily have to own it.
